Increase Height Naturally

It is easy to feel that when we live in a society that places so much importance on appearance that your height is of an issue too. If you feel that you are a little smaller than the average height then you will probably have at some point felt as though you have been at a disadvantage in some way. It is possible though, that even into adulthood you can make yourself grow a little taller. Whilst it is very easy to go online and search for ways to do this artificially, there are also some perfectly natural ways you can achieve growth too!

One great way to do this, which will benefit your overall health anyway, is to perform stretching exercises. Those that are aware of how they can increase height in a natural way will have learned over time that exercise and stretching is of crucial importance and should be incorporated into your daily routine.

Exercise releases the human growth hormone that is responsible for growing your bones and making you taller. In addition, exercise supports any achieved growth by making your muscles stronger and longer so that they can support the longer bones.

Any kind of exercise is good for you, and that goes without saying, but if you can incorporate stretching into your daily regime then you will be able to increase height quite naturally. If you stretch then you are training your muscles to prepare for lengthening. If you think of the muscles you will most commonly stretch – your legs and back – then it stands to reason that your growth will come from these parts of your body, which they do. Your height comes from your spine and your legs as this is what makes the central column of your body. As you stretch these areas over time you can expect them to elongate and make you taller in height.

Conversely, if you fail to stretch out these areas, particularly your spinal column, then you will not only fail to achieve growth but you will actually prevent yourself from growing. The discs in between each vertebrae of your spine must be allowed to soak up nutrients and swell. As they fill up and swell each of the vertebrae are pushed a little further apart and your spine becomes longer. And what happens when you spine becomes longer? That’s right – you become taller!

Here we look at different stretching techniques that you can try that will help increase your height.

The forward bend is done in exactly the same way as it implies. Here you simply stand upright with your feet probably shoulder width apart or perhaps a little further if you can manage. Place your hands on your thighs and slowly slide them down the rest of your legs as far as you can reach. It is important you don’t bend your knees as this will cancel out any benefit the stretch may have for you. As you stretch forwards all of the muscles at the back of your legs will be stretched. To stretch those at the front of your legs you simply repeat the movement but arch your back backwards and slide your hands down the back of your legs.

The downward dog is slightly different. It is a yoga movement and helps to increase height by making your body more flexible and adapatable so that it can grow. Get down on the floor to your hands and knees and face your fingers forwards. Bend your elbows so that the inside of your arm is going away from you. A you breath in push your legs up from your toes and your straighten your legs and arms. You should feel your spine stretching as you keep your legs straight and your feet on the floor. It can be quite difficult to do this at first so you might not achieve this position right away but with practice you should be able to do this.

Another stretch you could try is the head to knee stretch, which stretches out your spine and your hamstrings.

Sit on the floor with your legs out in front of you, bending one of your knees towards you and bringing the heel in towards your body. Bring your arms up over your head and take a breath in. Keep your back as straight as you can as you breathe out and bend down towards your extended leg. Try to bring your head as close as you can to your knee.

Keeping your spinal column straight throughout these exercises will elongate the spine and help you to increase height.
